Facts About Heroin
  • The Philadelphia area is highest nationally for hospital emergency room visits due to drug use
  • The Philadelphia area is second highest in the country for fatalities due to drug overdoses
  • Heroin in Philadelphia (PA) and Trenton (NJ) is cheap at only $10 per bag
  • In the past 20 years, the purity level of Heroin has TRIPLED, which means that:
    1. Users no longer have to inject the drug with a needle
    2. Heroin can be inhaled or smoked
    3. Users often start snorting Heroin (just as dangerous) and eventually graduate to injecting - leading to communicable diseases
    4. Addiction is quicker
    5. Chances of overdose are greater
  • Average age for first time Heroin use is continuing to drop to the young age of 13 to 16
  • Addictions grow to users spending over $200 a day on Heroin - if your children work, you must account for their earnings!
  • If your child is using Heroin and you are too NAIVE to get involved with recovery, you will get involved with funeral plans!

According to the National Center on Addiction & Substance Abuse (CASA):

Ø     At age 13, teenagers get to know other students who use and sell pot, acid cocaine or heroin; learn where to buy these drugs and who to buy them from; and significantly change their attitudes about reporting student drug users and sellers and communicating openly with parents.

Ø     Over 55% of high school students say that the drug problem is getting worse and both middle and high school students say that drugs are their biggest concern.

Ø     The number of high school teens who report drugs are used, sold and kept at their school is over 70%.

Ø     1 in 4 students has personally witnessed the sale of illegal drugs on school grounds.
